At Imagine Nations Church, we don't offer infant baptism.
Instead, we practice "believers' baptism," where the person being baptized makes a personal decision to do so because they want to follow Jesus.

Water baptism is a significant step in a Christian's spiritual journey, especially for kids. It's important that they genuinely understand what baptism means and why it's the right next step for them. We want this to be a meaningful spiritual event in their lives, reflecting their own walk with Jesus.

Kids often want to do what others are doing, but they shouldn't feel pressured to get baptised just because someone else is or because they've been told to do so. It's important that they're truly ready for this step.

When deciding with your child about water baptism, here are some things to consider:

  1. Has your child experienced a personal relationship with Jesus?
Can they talk about when they asked Jesus to be their friend, or do they express their love for Him?

  2. Are they showing signs of spiritual growth?
Do they want to pray and read the Bible in a way that suits their age and understanding? Are they willing to repent when necessary?

  3. Do they talk about God and ask questions about faith?

  4. Are they displaying the fruits of the Spirit in their life?

  5. Do they enjoy going to church? Do they share what they've learned in church with you?

  6. Can they explain why they want to be baptised, and does it show a desire to follow Jesus?
Is this answer truly theirs, not just what they think you want to hear?

  7. Would others, like a teacher or a church leader, see these qualities in your child when you're not around?

Sometimes, it's helpful to talk to others who see your child outside the home to get a full picture of their readiness for baptism.
Remember, this isn't about being perfect, but about making sure baptism is a significant moment for your child. It's okay to wait until you're both sure they're ready.

If you believe your child is ready to take this important step, please fill in a form on our website or church App. Out pastoral care team will make contact to talk you through the next steps like completing a water baptism bible study together at home.

We're excited to support your child in this next step of their faith journey!
